Desktop Detritus comes around every time I have a desktop that is crammed full of images I've forgotten the origin of. It's kind of like when driftwood piles up on a beach, but instead of trees that have been floating around at sea for years, Desktop Detritus is made up of lonely jpegs who no longer know where they came from. The intention is to give these poor lost images homes once again, and to reunite artists with their creative offspring.
So far the response has been enormous, with up to two people claiming jpegs in the space of a giddy nine weeks. One was even the brilliant Scott Teplin, who was nearly on Boing Boing after I sent in a link saying how cool it would be to have a post that Mark Frankenwelder and Cory Doctorow could both geek out about. The other person was actually quite a long time ago, but I still appreciated it, and so did the jpeg who finally found peace at last...
P.S. Scott - you don't need that Boing Boing crap. You'll always have a home here at neverhappened, with a fresh cardboard box and half a bottle of Black Cat Whisky. Actually a quarter of a bottle, give or take.
UPDATE - I'm out of Black Cat, but the cardboard box offer still stands.
