Broken Social Scene video "7/4 (Shoreline)"

Picture_8_2

Love this track - The video has cassettes in it, which gives it extra points.  f you haven't heard Broken Social Scene, imagine if Chryssie Hynde, The Thrills, and maybe The Flaming Lips were sent back in time to meet Fleetwood Mac and try to stop the destruction of the world from killer zombies.  OK, maybe not the killer zombies part, but you get what I mean.

Michel Gondry's new music video for a Kanye West song.  It's kind of simple and heartwarming, see if you like it...

Believe

"Believe" - The Chemical Brothers (ft. Kele Okereke)
Directed By: Dom & Nic

Perfectly summed up by 'Boards Magazine: "As we see in Brad Anderson's 2004 film The Machinist, a monotonous factory setting is not recommended for the faint of mind. That theme of unraveling psyche is repeated in this video for the Chemical Brothers, directed by Dom & Nic, as car-part robots menace a man to the point of lunacy. Of course the terror starts slowly at first - a glimpse of a robot here, sensing another there - until a gang of magnificently rendered CG fiends from London's Framestore CFC reduce the poor guy to a trembling puddle of mess. With animation this real, we got a little shaky too."

Flashy Python

For fans of Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah! - some tracks of Alec Ounsworth (the singer) in another band, Flashy Python.  Sounds very similar...

Sembawang Festival

If you live in Singapore you may have noticed not a lot of bands come here.  Well, on Friday and Saturday we are having our own version of Glastonbury, in Sembawang.  I'm planning to head down, if only to see Regurgitator at least...

The Hype Machine

The Hype Machine is a web site that gathers songs posted on MP3 blogs and presents them in an easy to consume manner.  It's main value to me seems to be discovering cool MP3 blogs - of which there seem to be a limitless amount.  Just like the new cool bands that the world (my world then) has been flooded with since I started to read MP3 blogs.  Honestly, I don't have time to even listen to the one or two tracks of all the new artists I am trying to get to grips with...

Hype Machine is particularly cool if you use the flash player as a radio...  If you are using Airport Express then I recommend a side order of Airfoil which lets you route audio from any application (in this case the Hype machine flash player in Safari with a bunch of search results in it - for example I searched for "cover" here) to your remote speakers.

UPDATE - totally getting into this Hype Machine thing... I am just leaving the player going in the background (playing through my stereo using Airfoil remember) and it's like listening to a fantastic indie radio station like Singapore doesn't have, but you can skip tracks, and when you hear one you like you can go to the blogpost that posted the track and read more about the band and download the track there as well.  How cool is that???

Music Video Community Blog

Sleep_1

Antville seems to be a kind of community thingy where people can all contribute on one topic that they are all interested in.  Which is kind of neat, especially when I'm interested too - like music videos, which I have started downloading like they are all going to expire by some kind of due by date, in preparation for the inevitable day when I buy my iPod video... straight after I buy my intel powerbook (I need something with usb2, and preferably without bulldog clips holding the screen together).

Oh yeah, videos.antville.org.  Check it out.

Mazarin

Mazarin sound like The Stone Roses and Swervedriver and The Clean and The Verlaines.  That means they sound GOOD.
