Proxy Servers

I've found a way to view barnabys.blogs.com in China! If you are reading this then either you have too or you are somewhere that doesn't censor dangerous websites like this one. Here's the trick: go to publicproxyservers.com, copy one of the addresses from the list and make a note of the port number, and paste them into the http proxy settings in the options/preferences of your browser. That's it! Could someone please explain to me why the chinese government even bothers to censor the internet when it's so easy to get around it?

UPDATE: I think the government here in China must be reading neverhappened. The proxy server trick is not working anymore. Crust. Oh well, I'm off to Hong Kong in 4 hours - which reminds me, I should get some sleep...

National Library of New Zealand Bibliography

Download NZNB0104.doc

Records of New Zealand and Tokelau books, serials, newspapers, music, maps, videos, sound recordings, kits, and pictures.   Items are included after they have been received at the National Library and will be included if published in the current or preceding five years.  The catalogue records produced meet international standards.

This document contains all the items that have been catalogued during the month of January 2004.  It's a really boring document, but if you search for my name in it (and you are me) then it's not a total waste of time.

Bootleg Objects

rebraun_totale1024So here it is: The coolest thing in the world. I want to make love to it. It's a 1962 Audio 1 Kompaktanlage, by Dieter Rams. Modified to be an MP3 jukebox. Bigger than an iPod, granted, but it's just soooooo much cooler... Go to the site to see more pics of the Kompaktanlage and also shots of a vintage B&O cassette deck modified to be a media centre. Yum.
